We had several reports of a baby monkey being used for begging at the tourist night market in Baga, but all attempts to find it proved fruitless as the owner knowing it was illegal, took off.

Eventually, with the help of an Indian supporter, she was tricked away from her handler and bought directly to the Tree House. Probably 3 years old, rather than a baby Matilda is a very confident and quite a feisty monkey. She gets on with most male volunteers and comes out for walks and swimming, although she will nip if she doesn't get her own way even with a male handler.

Matilda now shares a pen with Butch.
